Moleta Munro are delighted to be the first dealer for Another Country in Scotland.

Inspired by traditional Scandinavian, Shaker and Japanese woodwork, Another Country makes beautiful furniture. Solid in construction and style, with the spirit of a bygone age updated for the contemporary home.

Justin Baddon, Creative Director at Moleta Munro was impressed by the way Another Country had stripped the products back to the pure craftsmanship but had retained a contemporary edge to the work.

Another Country’s first collection, Series One is a clear and simple interpretation of this original intention in furniture manufacturing. The Series One products have become something of archetypes in themselves with the Series One Sofa a firm favourite. Another Country Series Two, remains true to the design values, however, the forms were inspired by the no-nonsense style of Japanese and Scandinavian furniture and the pale woods in contemporary Belgian craft production. Brass is an additional accent, adding decoration as well as structural support.

The beautiful craft of Another Country works well in a number of settings from homes to hotels. Another Country day beds were commissioned for the All England Lawn Tennis Club and Bistrotheque in East London choose bespoke Another Country benches to complement their re-vamp. The Natural Retreats site in John O’Groats features the Another Country Series One dining table and benches to create the perfect dining area for their luxury cottage.

Paul de Zwart, Founder and Creative Director, established Another Country to fill a gap in the market for well-made, long lasting products at a fair price, having failed to find the archetypal three-legged stools to use as side tables in his Dorset home. Previously, Paul had worked with Alasdhair Willis and interior designer Ilse Crawford and had worked alongside Tyler Brûle in the founding of Wallpaper* magazine.  Paul took a year to research the collection and worked with a local Dorset craftsman, Dominic Parish, to refine the designs. Another Country launched with a six piece modular collection consisting of a bench, a day bed, a chair, a stool and two types of table.

Lightyears is one of our favourite Scandinavian lighting brands. Their fantastic modern interpretations of everyday lighting products are suitable for a whole range of projects from domestic schemes to contract lighting.

They have a glorious range of pendant fittings, the most recognisable being the Caravaggio. It comes in a range of sizes, P0, P1, P2, P3 and P4. The Caravaggio P0 pendant is the smallest version with a diameter of 110m. The largest is the Caravaggio P4 pendant with a diameter of 400mm. It comes in high gloss white and black with a red, grey or black cord and in an Opal version with a silver cord. The depth of the shade prevents glare, creating a soft lighting effect. The shade comes in a variety of sizes.

The pendants have been used in a number of high profile commercial lighting projects including Nike Town, Royal Scottish Academy for Music and Drama, The Hummingbird Bakery and New York’s Dean and DeLuca.

The success of the high gloss Caravaggio’s led to the development of the matt finishes in white, light grey and dark grey. The Caravaggio’s designer, Cecilie Manz’s love of grey has provided a timeless solution to suit pretty much all settings. It is a fantastic example of classic Scandinavian design. The Matt grey Caravaggio is an industrial looking pendant, which works well against a range of wall treatments. From single pendants in living rooms to multiple pendants for a chandelier effect in full height stairwells. The Caravaggio has also been specified for break-out spaces and meeting rooms in office environments. It is, as Lightyears rightly say…. a future classic.

The Caravaggio Opal is another take on the same shape. Again available in the P0, P1, P2, P3, P4 sizes the Caravaggio Opal is a glass shade which gives out a soft dimmed light – it is the best pendant for the lounge, or for areas where more evocative lighting is required. It comes with a silver textile cord to complete the look.

At the Stockholm Furniture and Lighting Fair 2013, Lightyears unveiled the Caravaggio wall light – available currently in black and white. Suitable as a bedside light or a desk light, the Caravaggio wall light gives a direct, soft, and targeted light, while elegantly shielding the light source.

Lightyears also do some great stand-out fittings like the Calabash and the Pharaoh. If you’re looking to make a statement – these are the shades for you.

Over the last few months we’ve been working with Architonic to make the specification of the products we supply easier for the Architect & Design community.

The result is our virtual showroom.

It’s difficult to keep a track of what’s out there which is where we can help. The virtual showroom lets you browse the best brands including HOWE, Hitch Mylius, HAY, Mass Productions, Lightyears, Ondarreta, Carl Hansen and GUBI. We’re always searching for new brands to add to our stable, so we can provide designers with the best products for their projects.

The online showroom enables you to download catalogues, request a quote or more information. You can also email product pages to your clients and colleagues.

We’ll be uploading new brands to the showroom when we get back from the Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair – so do visit again in the middle of February.

Bestlite has been in production continuously for over eight decades. Now, Gubi  have released the iconic lamp in brass.  The re-introduction of this authentic brass finish gives a fresh, modern twist to the timeless Bestlite design.

New colours and surfaces, comprising all brass, brass/matt white, brass/matt grey and brass/matt black, will be applied to selected models of the Bestlite table, floor, wall and pendant lamps, including the BL3 floor lamp, which now returns to the collection with original 21 cm shade. Pictured is the BL2 in brass.

The Bestlite table lamp is a perfect addition for your desk, side table or occasional table. Famous since Winston Churchill first placed one on his desk in Whitehall, the Bestlite table lamp exudes simplicity and style.

Bestlite lamps are fantastic examples of 1930s Bauhaus design and have stood the test of time. The Bestlite range is well worth the investment...you are buying a little piece of design history

This September sees the Grasshopper floor lamp manufactured by GUBI available in a new matt white finish.

It has been refreshing for us to promote Greta Grossman's work over the course of the last year. In the largely male dominated world of classic modern design, few female names have basked in the glory of their designs reaching the consumer. Yet Grosman (1906 - 1999) had a prolific career spanning two continents and forty two years.  Her many achievements encompass industrial design, interior design and architecture. GUBI have recently helped to reassert her veritable talent on the global stage having relaunched not just her lamps, including the Grasshopper table lamps, Cobra floor and table lamps, but also the 62 series of furniture.

Müller Möbelwerkstätten produce many pared down pieces of  furniture, but we are particularly captivated by their compact desk, Flatmate. When closed, ‘Flatmate’ has a floor area of just 0.09sq, making it probably the smallest fully equipped bureau on the market. Due to its slim depth and sleek, unobtrusive exterior it transforms long hallways into home offices. It is also ideal for rooms where space is at a premium. Müller's Flatmate has an integrated flexible interior with storage space for traditional writing utensils, laptops, iPads and phones. The work light also has a power socket so items can be charged whilst being used or stored overnight. The flatmate is available in 14 standard colours, or simply elegant black or white. Please contact us for further information on this or any other Müller Möbelwerkstätten product.

Whilst it may be hard to recreate this scene in the UK, there are many Fatboy products that will enhance your summer lounging. Top of the list is the Fatboy Headdemock, a contemporary free-standing hammock that will allow you to enjoy the sun at your leisure.  Also hugely popular is the Buggle-Up beanbag, essentially an outdoor version of the best-selling Fatboy Original. The Buggle-Up comes in a hard-wearing cover and has a handy strapwhich makes it portable. If you wish to escape some sunshine, or have little ones to care for, the Fatboy Flowerpowersol will provide some essential shade under a wonderful Marimekko canopy.

All Fatboy products have 15% off for new orders. Use code FATBOY12 when proceeding through the checkout (offer valid till 06/07/2012).

The longevity of classic modern design is something that we thoroughly appreciate. Mathieu Matégot’s has several designs from the 1950’s that have reached iconic status. Whilst he is most famous for the Nagasaki chair, a chair featured in the Vitra Museum permanent exhibition, his coatrack and shelving have a lightness of form that still resonate today.

We have devoted a sizeable portion of our shop floor to the Adaptable Table by Muuto with good reason: we love it. The table has grand proportions with an eye-catching, immaculate, solid oak table top. The name “Adaptable” stems from the fact that four different table top, table base, and leg options are offered. Priced under £1500 no one can dispute that it represents good value for money. Where Muuto’s  table really flourishes is in the detailing. The frame has large button style fixings that add considerable character. Designed by TAF architects in 2009, the table can not only be purchased in 64 different options, it can be used as a dining table, work table, or meeting room table. Highly adaptable, then.

We are offering 15% off all orders for the Adaptable Table placed during October 2011.
