We have devoted a sizeable portion of our shop floor to the Adaptable Table by Muuto with good reason: we love it. The table has grand proportions with an eye-catching, immaculate, solid oak table top. The name “Adaptable” stems from the fact that four different table top, table base, and leg options are offered. Priced under £1500 no one can dispute that it represents good value for money. Where Muuto’s  table really flourishes is in the detailing. The frame has large button style fixings that add considerable character. Designed by TAF architects in 2009, the table can not only be purchased in 64 different options, it can be used as a dining table, work table, or meeting room table. Highly adaptable, then.

We are offering 15% off all orders for the Adaptable Table placed during October 2011.

Caravaggio pendants by Lightyears are supremely versatile light fittings suiting a wide range of interior, from the domestic to the commercial, and as such we are big fans of them. Originally designed in 2005 by Cecille Manz, this autumn sees the launch of the Caravaggio Matt, providing you with the option of purchasing pendants in various tones of matt grey and matt white. The new matt Caravaggio pendants will be available in three sizes, from the fairly standard P1 through to the stately P3. You can see a video here of them here. We can’t wait to get our hands on some very soon! (Available October / November 2011).

As long-term subscribers of Elle Decoration magazine, it's fair to say that we are big fans of the fine publication. For the first time ever we have been persuaded to advertise in the magazine, so we thought we should shout about the current issue: October. It is an absolute delight. The bumper issue is a veritable visual feast, packed with hundreds of interior ideas. If you find our advert within this stylish tome and follow the URL given in it, you may find yourself rewarded, particularly if you are pondering a purchase in the near future. We won't give any more clues away here, but if you are not already a subscriber you probably should be. You may even see some more of our adverts in the future.

We are big fans of good architecture in a rural setting, as many of you will know, and it was fantastic to view the infamous Ferry Shelter on Tiree by Sutherland Hussey Architects a couple of weekends ago. Very inspiring and in a unique setting, too. With the strong winds prevailing that weekend, we even had to use it on our return. It was a godsend. We are now well aware of why Tiree has become so popular for "WIND"surfing! If you do fancy staying on Tiree, you will be very comfortable in Rockvale guest house. They serve possibly the finest breakfast in Scotland.

Our bolt-hole, Timber House, on the Isle of Skye was featured across 5 and a half pages in last weekend's Times Magazine. Sadly, we were pipped to the post in terms of coverage by Katie Price who received 6 pages. Not bad, though! Anyone interested in staying in the house should contact our Edinburgh store: 0131 557 4800. Many thanks to Journalist, Ruth Corbett, and Photographer, Chris Tubbs.

The Ercol Originals Loveseat is currently being used as part of the window display for Cos in Regent Street, London.  If you are lusting after this part-blue beauty, you know where to come. We are delighted to have been credited as the stockist for this item, should shoppers make an enquiry in the Regent Street store. It’s fair to say the clothes look very desirable too!

With the demise of many standard incandescent bulbs, the energy saving light bulb market is rich with opportunity. Most energy saving light bulbs are exceptionally ugly and have little appeal to the consumer. However, Hulger have launched the Plumen bulb which is the antithesis of purely utilitarian energy saving bulbs. With the Plumen bulb a designer light fitting is created from only the bulb itself. The bulb uses 80% less energy and lasts 8 times as long as an incandescent bulb, so it will save you energy (and money) in addition to being a striking lighting feature.

Contemporary architects reinvent the modernist home

The Moleta Munro camp has been captivated by images of the latest Dualchas project on Skye. Tigh Port Na Long provides a contemporary twist on the modernist home. The residential property marries two simple cubes that hark back to the architecture of Mies Van der Rohe, but with its skinny horizontal cladding it manages to be bang up-to-date. The combination of fine architecture, magnificent rural setting and million dollar views, will doubtless ensure a few architectural awards for Dualchas. It's certainly got our thumbs up!

Something for every maximalist and minimalist

Very occasionally in this line of work you get to contemplate the finer things in life: art, architecture and fine cuisine. Recently we have been feasting our eyes on the fabulously inspirational website of artist Sarah Baddon Price. The influences on Sarah's work are multi-faceted and this comes across in the wide range of imagery she creates. Whether you are confirmed maximalist or minimalist, we are confident that that she has something to adorn your walls with. Our current favourite is Mug and Lemon (pictured).

Swiss milkmaids aside!

Quite why the Heidi Stool by Established & Sons keeps entering our collective consciousness, we don't know. Perhaps it's the combination of craftsmanship and high tech (something close to our hearts at Moleta Munro), or maybe it's the contrasting colours of bright red and wood brown of the showroom piece we have in our store? Whatever, the Heidi stool, designed by Sebastian Wrong, is fabulous, and extremely comfortable to boot. We have ours pride of place in the store window, right next to a HAY pink neon light. Yes, the sex shop comments have been acknowledged. But if you are in the market for a different stool, I'd be the first to recommend the Heidi Stool.
